Saco, Maine – March 14, 2022 – Monarch Information Security Consulting today announced the company’s accreditation as an authorized Certified Third-Party Assessment Organization (C3PAO) by the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Board (CMMC-AB), under the authority of the Department of Defense.
Monarch is only the seventh organization in the country to achieve this certification and the first such certification under the recently released CMMC 2.0 framework. Additionally, the company is the first and only C3PAO in the Northeast.
The CMMC-AB requires C3PAOs to pass a rigorous vetting process. This comprehensive evaluation includes an assessment of the company’s own cybersecurity practices, as required by the DoD’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) framework, and background suitability checks of all assessors.
“We are honored to achieve this certification,” commented Joe Kurlanski, CISSP®, HCISSP®, CMMC-PA, and president of Monarch ISC. “We look forward to working with the DoD and the CMMC-AB to protect critical information for the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and the entire supply chain.”
The company is currently conducting readiness assessments of DIB companies who wish to achieve certification ahead of the official release of CMMC 2.0, which is in the final rule making process. The DoD expects to include CMMC requirements in contracts in late 2022 or early 2023.
